In occasion of the 2023 edition of the Modern and contemporary art fair held in Basel, Campari will be present for the first time with the Davide Campari Lounge, welcoming the fair’s audience from Thursday the 15th of June to Sunday the 18th of June (VIP opening reception: from Monday the 12th to Wednesday 14th of June), with its well-known bartenders, unique creations based on the Italian red spirit, and some exclusive experiences specifically conceived for the visitors of Art Basel in Basel. Art Basel brings together galleries and artists from around the world to create a global platform for discovery and encounters that drive the art world. Campari’s collaboration with Art Basel cements its dialogue with the art world which is at the core of its DNA since its creation. Leading the charge to create momentum around the upcoming activities, Campari is collaborating with some of the best-known international bartenders to bring The Art of Mixology to Art Basel in Basel. It will narrate the rich and surprising story of the color “red” throughout the history of contemporary art and the unlimited possibilities Campari’s iconic taste can offer. The icons of contemporary art will meet mixology works of art. Passion and creativity can be found in the work of both artists and bartenders, generating stories woven together in timeless narratives, which Art Basel’s visitors will only be able to experience on this unique occasion. Throughout the fair, the Davide Campari Lounge, located on the second floor of Hall 2 of Messe Basel, will offer a welcoming and sophisticated space where visitors will be able to discover the culture and ritual of the true Milanese aperitivo through Campari creations, masterfully prepared and served by Camparino in Galleria. Each day, the Davide Campari Lounge will host a series of events from the official calendar of Art Basel in Basel as well as a series of exclusive moments at the traditional time of the aperitivo. The Art of Mixology consists of five special appointments that will be open to all the visitors of the fair each day, starting at 5pm. Tommaso Cecca, Maria Kontorravdis, Chris Amirault and Sven Riebel, will create an exclusive taste experience by taking inspiration from contemporary art masters who are from the same country as them and who have worked with the colour red, thus evoking Campari’s passion and spirit through an extra-sensory dialogue. GALLERIA CAMPARI AND ITS HISTORY Galleria Campari, which opened in 2010 on the 150th anniversary of Campari, is a new form of corporate museum; a dynamic, interactive and multi-media space dedicated entirely to the relationship between the Campari brand and its communication through art and design. The project formed part of the architectural and functional renovation of the original Sesto San Giovanni plant created by Davide Campari in 1904. Between 2007 and 2009, the complex was completely transformed with a design by the architect Mario Botta, to create the new Campari Group headquarters and the corporate museum. Galleria Campari owes its strength to the uniqueness and wealth of the Galleria Campari Archive, a true all-encompassing cultural treasure trove that brings together more than 4,000 works on paper, above all original posters from the Belle Époque, as well as posters and advertising graphics from between the 1930s and the 1990s by important artists such as Marcello Dudovich, Leonetto Cappiello, Fortunato Depero, Guido Crepax, Bruno Munari, Ugo Nespolo; carousel advertising, TV adverts and projects by famous directors such as Federico Fellini, Singh Tarsem, Paolo Sorrentino, Stefano Sollima, Matteo Garrone; objects by established designers such as Matteo Thun, Dodo Arslan, Markus Benesch and Matteo Ragni. The works are exhibited both live and through multimedia, re-elaborated by Interaction Designers from Cogitanz using a video wall with 15 screens dedicated to carousel advertising from between the 1950s and the 1970s, eight high-definition projectors that manage a 32-metre wall with animated period sketches, dedicated videos, special projects, images from the Campari calendars and TV advertising from the 1980s to the present. An interactive table with 12 touch screens allows visitors to enjoy most of the company’s huge artistic heritage. The Galleria also lends items to museums and exhibitions, provides historical and critical consultancy in support of curation projects that include materials from the Campari collection, and guided tours for private individuals, students and experts.
